Parking Clerk

The Parking Clerk makes every effort to enforce parking rules and regulations fairly. If you receive a Parking Violation, it is important to either dispute it to the Parking Clerk or pay the violation within 21 days, otherwise significant penalties will be added and your name sent to the Registry of Motor Vehicles for the purpose of non-renewal of your license and registration.

If A Ticket Is Not Paid / Successfully Disputed When First Received

A $5 late charge is added by the Town if not paid within 21 days. A notice goes out to the recipient with the new total fee (i.e. the original ticket fee plus late charge) and an appeal deadline. Payment by cash or personal check is still acceptable (because notification has not yet been sent to the RMV).

If A Ticket Is Not Paid / Successfully Disputed by the Appeal Deadline

A $25 penalty is added by the Registry of Motor Vehicles and a notice goes out to the recipient with the new total fee (i.e. the original ticket fee, plus the late charges, plus the RMV surcharge) and a notification of non-renewal of the recipient's license and/or registration. Once the Registry of Motor Vehicles has attached their surcharge, only payment by Cash, Bank Check, or Money Order is acceptable.
