Information Technology Department

The Information Technology Department supports all other town departments, boards, and committees by procuring, troubleshooting, and repairing computers and related technology; building and managing the town’s data networks & providing internet access; and ensuring data and system security. GIS duties include overseeing new geographic data development, administering the networked GIS software and data layers, performing spatial data analysis & professional cartography, and training in the use of all of the above.

 Specifically, this department maintains network infrastructure, supervises network security, maintains computer hardware & software, supports printers and other network devices and manages system backups and archives. This department supports staff users by supporting the telecommunication systems, managing e-mail and other web communications, supporting applications from vendors and developing and supporting custom applications.

The GIS system is used to provide information to other departments and boards and committees as requested. The IT department develops and maintains GIS data, performs GIS Analysis, creates maps and other cartographic products, maintain GIS applications and provide technical support & related training.
