Waste Management Exploratory Committee

On May 24, 2022, the Select Board created the Waste Management Exploratory Committee to be composed of Select Board Member, Board of Health Member, Sustainable Westborough Member and Residents. On September 27, 2022, the Waste Management Exploratory Committee proposed their Charter for the Select Board's approval. The Charter, or committee goals, can be found on the left side of this page.

In order to support the committee in its work, the Town applied for and was awarded a technical assistance grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. This grant provides for Irene Congdon, Central Mass Municipal Assistance Coordinator, to attend the WMEC meetings and provide information and assistance.

On May 9, 2023, WMEC presented their recommendations to the Select Board. This presentation can be found by viewing the WMEC Update to the Select Board (PDF). At this meeting, the Select Board voted to accept the plan as presented by the Waste Management Exploratory Committee and request that the Town Manager act on the recommendations as presented.

The Committee will remain in place and continue to meet in order to provide support for community education and will be available as a resource as this moves forward.
