Youth Commission

The Youth Commission created Westborough Youth and Family Services Department (WYFS) in 1984 to provide mental health and substance abuse counseling, prevention and education programs, information about mental health and substance abuse issues, and referrals to appropriate service providers for the residents of Westborough.  The Youth Commission is the ambassador to the community for the WYFS department.

Youth Commission members commit to attending monthly Youth Commission meetings, town meetings two times a year, one Advisory Finance Committee meeting, and one Selectman's meeting during the budget season. The Youth Commission members during the year will be asked to help with local community events and other meetings or projects that may arise.

The commission consists of nine members who are appointed by the Select Board for three year terms. It is composed of five adult members and four youth members. Two youth members are appointed each year in the spring of their sophomore year to serve for their junior and senior years of high school. Additional youth members may be appointed to serve as non-voting Associate Members.
