Think it's important to support small business? Do you have a desire to shop local this holiday season?
The Westborough Economic Development Committee (EDC)'s "Shop Westborough" Holiday Passport might be for you!
At the 2022 Annual Town Meeting, voters approved a request from the Westborough EDC to release funds from the Economic Development Revolving Account for a one-off loyalty program to promote local business. This is a project that was recommended by the Town of Westborough's Rapid Recovery Plan (RRP) (PDF). Accordingly, the EDC is happy to announce that it's launching the project later this month as the "Shop Westborough" Holiday Passport program! See below for details on the project:
The "Shop Westborough" Holiday Passport is a loyalty promotion, sponsored by the Westborough EDC, to promote shopping local this holiday season. How does it work?
- We have created a loyalty card that community members can pick up at municipal offices or at participating businesses
- When a customer makes a purchase at a participating business, they may have their card "stamped" with a unique sticker for that business (we will provide these stickers to businesses)
- Once someone has made a purchase at (and had their card "stamped" by) ten different businesses, they may leave their card in a "drop box" to have a chance to win a $150 gift card at the participating business of their choice. The drawings will take place on January 1, 2023, and there will be 15 prizes awarded.
The next time you're out shopping, ask a local business if they're participating in this promotion! See a list of participating businesses.
The program will run from November 27th through December 31st. In other words, only purchases made at participating businesses during that timeframe may earn a "stamp" on a loyalty card.
Have you already filled up a "Shop Westborough" Holiday Passport card? See a list of "drop box" locations where you may leave your completed card to be entered into the promotion.
